Screen saver wait time keeps changing

Windows XP Pro - Ver 2002 - SP2
Dell Lattitude D610
-----------
The wait time on my screen saver keeps resetting to 10 minutes.
I'll set it to 30 minutes and at some point it resets to 10 minutes.
I'm using the out-of-the-box MS screen saver.

Does anyone have an ideas on what is happening and how I can fix it?

Are you using a "managed" PC?

I'm using a company issued laptop connected to the corporate network.

Re: Screen saver wait time keeps changing

Then they have a GPO that sets it to 10 minutes. If you want different,
you would have to convince the system admin as to why.

Re: Screen saver wait time keeps changing

Bob, thanks for your responses.
What is a GPO? I'm scratching my head as to why the sys admin would prevent
us from setting our own screen saver wait times.

Re: Screen saver wait time keeps changing

Group policy object, the method used for managing a network of
computers. The reason in your case could be for security purposes, IF
the user isn't using the PC, the "Screensaver" locks down the PC after
10 minutes. That serves to prevent unauthorized use of the PC and the
network if the logged in user forgets to lock the PC or log out. It
would be applied to all PC's in this case.
