Unlikley - without some special software.

However - having said that - the only reference I could find to it with a
solution that seemed viable was one that included installing Windows 98 onto
a Virtual Machine and using the Virtual Machine to read the old
drivespace/dblspace mount method to access them and copy their data to a
shared are to get them OFF the old media.

Old instructions probably look something like this:

This disk has been compressed by Microsoft DoubleSpace.
To gain access to the contents of this disk, your computer
must be running DoubleSpace.

To make this disk's contents accessible, change to the
drive that contains it, and then type the following at the
command prompt:

DBLSPACE /MOUNT

(If this file is located on a drive other than the drive that
contains the compressed disk, then the disk has already
been mounted).

Re: Reading dblspaced disks

AFAIK you will need to boot DOS 6.0 or 6.2 or even 6.22 and uncompress the
drive. Once the drive has been uncompressed it can be used in Win XP. XP
can't natively read the disks.

Further reading for you:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/100536
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/arc....mspx?mfr=true
and most important see:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/96250

Good luck.... I used dblspace one time on a volume a long time ago and it
corrupted the drive. Never used it again. Good theory for those expensive
hard drives and floppy disks but when 6.22 came out a lot of people were
unhappy when they upgraded to drvspace.
