Re: Install a program from a Limited Account?
Elevate the limited account by logging on with an account that has admin
privileges. Don J wrote: > How do I install a program from a limited account? I know that I have to > invoke an administrative account, but how? > > Don J > > ---------------------------------------------------------------- > > |

Re: Install a program from a Limited Account?
Then you will need to login in Safe Mode and get to the administrator.
How did you change the account to limited? Anyway you will find User Accounts in Control panel. Open it Select the User and pick Properties, set the access level. Re: Install a program from a Limited Account?
Once in User Accounts, I don't see how to open an account, "....Select the
User and pick Properties, then set the access level". Remember I am using "XP'Home". I havn't changed an "Administrator" account to Limited. I've defined the "Limited Account". Now, I'm trying to figure out how to use it. This is one limitation of your "Limited Account" The best way would be to create another account which you make a member of the administrators group for use in situations like this. Jim |

Re: Install a program from a Limited Account?
How do I make it a member of the Administrator Group? As far as I can see
"XP'Home" can't classify Accounts by Group. Log in to the now-admin level user account, install the software, run it once so it can create whatever folders needed, restart in Safe mode to Admin, reset the user account back to Limited. Reboot back into regular mode and into the now-limited user account, and check the results. Note that not all software will work with limited accounts. If you run into problems, you must contact the vendor for guidance. >"XP'Home" can't classify Accounts by Group. If you don't know the Administrator password, you will not be able to do what you want to do. Only logging in as the Administrator account will you be able to be given privileges to install applications. - Thee Chicago Wolf |
