Hello all. My coworker's computer is having problems playing files in Windows
Media Player (current version 11). When she tries to watch a video, the
monitor flashes black and won't play the file. Sometimes the whole computer
freezes and she has to reboot. Occasionally it will at least try to play the
video, but will cut out through the whole thing.

I already had her upgrade to the current version, with no luck.

Any ideas?

Search for the discussion group for multimedia/windows mediaplayer in the
web interface you are using.

Make sure she has the lastest upgrades from the microsoft upgrade site.
Version 11 is still pretty new and was beta tested with SP2 and with lastest
upgrades. Along with that make sure that another player like Real Player,
etc. is not set as the default player and fighting with WMP. If so, uninstall
real player and try again. Believe me she will end up with Real Player again.
Then my next move would be to shut off virus protection and try downloading &
installing again. Be sure to reboot after to make sure virus protection is
reactivated.
