Calculator
I'm running XP Home on my laptop.
I have suddenly lost all trace of my calculator. I use this quit a bit and even had an icon on the taskbar, but even this has disappeared, leaving just the default icon that leads nowhere. Can anyone help? TIA Ed |

Re: Calculator
Thanks for the input. I'm afraid my problem looks more serious than that.
The shortcut address appears okay - ...%SystemRoot%/system32/calc.exe - but it cannot be found. I have tried "Search" for calc.exe and nothing comes up. It looks very much like it has somehow become uninstalled or so badly corrupted as to be unrecognisable by Windows. Go to Tools => Folder Options => View tab Check to 'Show hidden files and folders' Uncheck (clear) the box 'Hide prorected operating system files' Click OK Navigate to your 'System32' folder and then to the 'dllcache' folder (probably in blue). Copy the file calc.exe to the System32 folder In Folder Options reset to hide folders. |

Open Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click the Add/Remove Windows components button in the left pane. Locate "Accessories and Utilities", double-click, do the same with the "Accessories" folder, deselect the Calculator, close the applet. Go back in and add the Calculator. -- Joe =o) |

Re: Calculator
Hi.
I do not appear to have a dllcache folder, not even when using Search. Even after reinstalling Accessories from the Win XP CD (which got my calculator back) I still cannot find this folder. Apart from System32 calc.exe, the only other reference is in the prefetch folder CALC.EXE-02CD373A.pf. Many thanks for your time and input.
