get old version

a customer of mine has a version 6 licence key. He wants me to install that version on his server.
Now I do not have his installation cd.
How do I get the setup.exe of this old version?

Re: get old version

Acrobat 6 (and other versions) aren't for use on a server...

Re: get old version

Aandi,
good point. In this case though there is a server product (the DMS "OS|ECM") that uses Acrobat to render scanned images to PDF.
That is by far cheaper than Livecycle ES.

Re: get old version

Some company may be selling you a server product and including a copy of
Acrobat to do some work, but that doesn't mean that it is an approved &
licensed use of Acrobat according to Adobe.

Re: get old version

Getting back to my orginal question: Do you know how to get old versions of Acrobat?

Apart from that: I don't see any wrong doing in installing the customer's software. He did buy that Acrobat version.
Further more: As far as I know the only restriction Acrobat imposes is: you must not spread more than x copies of a reader-extended form.

I hesitate to suggest eBay, after all the recent stories I've read in various forums about pirate versions being sold as real... but for something this old, and if the seller has good feedback, you may be OK

Re: get old version

Adobe stop selling old software immediately the old one is released.
Tech support do keep a stock of old disks for licensed users, but I
doubt they go back that far.

Otherwise, used copies may be the only source of disks.

I recommend you (or the customer, or their lawyer) check the Acrobat
EULA for that version. Phrases like "all other network use is
prohibited" have appeared, but each version is different. At least
mention the possibility to the customer so you yourself are covered.

This was a new function in 8.0, not relevant here.

He/she bought or licensed software from a company that included Acrobat
software for his use. Adobe has every right to restrict the customer's
use of the software to a non-server environment. If the customer was not
happy with that restriction, he/she should have returned the software
years ago. You do not have the right to install it on a server if you
know it will be used in a way that will violate Adobe's license. The
ethical thing to do is to inform the company that their intended use
violates the end-user license and recommend alternatives.
