Quality problems with GIF/PNG files
Hello All,
I haven't yet found a way to solve some quality problems with GIF and PNG graphics in PDF, starting e.g. from MS Word or Powerpoint, and created with Adobe Acrobat Pro (7.0) Whilst JPEG files come out looking okay, for the same resolution (i.e. in both the source graphics and the Distiller settings) GIF and PNG graphics come out with unsightly pixelation effects. I would switch to JPEG exclusively, but I need the transparency option from GIF/PNG in the original DOC/PPT files. I can reduce the severity of the problem by setting the resampling resolution values/thresholds to a very high resolution (>600 dpi), but then the PDF files are huge. Could someone please explain why the transparent GIF/PNG files are re- rendered so unfortunately in comparison to JPEGs? Does anyone know of a simple way to get around this problem? Many thanks. |
