Martin,
I've been using PDFMaker and haven't seen any problems. May be you can share a sample word file with us OR you can try to convert your file to PDF using 'Quick and simple' route. For 'Quick and simple' route do the following:' 1) Open your word doc. 2) Goto 'Acrobat' ribbon and click 'Create PDF'. 3) In the 'Save As' dialog choose 'Quick and simple' radio button. (by default it should be 'Fully functional PDF'). 4) Save the PDF file. Let me know if this works for you.
