Preview seperations in Illustrator?

Is this possible? I have been creating PDFs then placing them into InDesign in order to view separations. I tried the Phantasm plugin but it doesn't like my files. Is there another plugin that any of you might recommend? Thanks!!!

Print to PDF, specifying separations. Then, view your seps in Acrobat or Reader.

Alternately, open your AI file in Acrobat and view seps there.

Not possible. If you have Acrobat Pro and save with PDF compatibility (it's on by default), then you can preview seps in Acrobat.

It would be a very useful feature and not at all some whiz-bang flashy bit of nonsense. So we'll probably never see it.

Re: Preview seperations in Illustrator?

Esko Graphics has got another one. You might want to check it on their website.

Another way, literally a cheaper one, can be found here:

Note that it is only a kind of tricky workaround. I've included a short description on how it works, but it's in German only, so it might be useless to you.

I agree that it should be a built-in feature.
