I hear you when you describe the possible problems that multiple styles could create, both technically and from a user point of view. It's just that I'm always afraid to discount how things that seem difficult or strange now will be viewed in 3 or 5 or 10 years.

I've seen this particular discussion right here in this forum a few
years ago, and at some point in the distant past in the Framemaker forum
and the Ventura newsgroup. A lot of people have wanted this (probably
even requested it); many of them also think it would be a nightmare. :^)
