Right now, ID works basically the same way Word does (and Quark, and Ventura,
and Framemaker).




Not the same as Ventura, because that already has some support for overlapping character styles. And I seem to recall that Frame does too, though it shows up only the last applied in the tag window (I could be wrong here, because I don't have it installed to check). As for conflicts, I would have thought that would be pretty easy - the last applied takes priority.
