trial version
I am testing the trial of dreamweaver against expression to see which I would
prefer. At the moment I am leanng towards dreameaver. However, I can upload to my site on Expresssion but not on Dreamweaver. I have set up the ftp and it is collecting files from the folder no probs. When I go to upload it seems to be sending them but then webpage will not display them. Is this because it is a free trial that it will not allow me to use it? |

Without that, either will be a steep climb for you. > Is this because it is a free trial that it will not allow me to use it? No. The trial is fully functional. What folders do you see on the remote server when you connect? In your DW site definition for this site, what do you have in the Host directory field of the Remote site definition? -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "emilyt.w" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:fqqsuc$p2b$1@forums.macromedia.com... >I am testing the trial of dreamweaver against expression to see which I >would > prefer. Re: trial version
I see the HTDOCS folder and the CGI bin folder. I have uploaded from
Expression so far and when I use Dreamweaver, it will collect those files. When I upload from Dreamweaver it seems to show those files as being present and the log all seems ok, but the webpage will not display and says forbidden content. |

Re: trial version
Look in the htdocs folder. That's where your website should be found. That
means you must have left the Host directory folder in the Remote site definition blank. Change that to "htdocs". Please note that *nix servers are case sensitive, so follow the same capitalization you see in the folder name when you do that. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "emilyt.w" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:fqrd9k$dg0$1@forums.macromedia.com... >I see the HTDOCS folder and the CGI bin folder. Re: trial version
You are uploading to the WRONG folder on the host site.
Do you have htdocs in the Host directory field of the remote site definition? -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "emilyt.w" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:fqrntl$oc4$1@forums.macromedia.com... >I have checked all of this and it seems fine. Re: trial version
When you connect to the remote site, what folders do you see listed on that
server? -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "emilyt.w" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:fqrr9s$ru7$1@forums.macromedia.com... > yes |

Re: trial version
I see htdocs and cgibin as a sub category. In expression the files upload no
problem and display. I deleted all of these and tried to 'put' a basic test page. It showed it in the right location on the remote list and showed the files as being present. When I try and view the webpage I get HTTP 430, the website declined to show this page you must be logged in. |

Re: trial version
Ask your host what is the name of the folder that contains your website
files. That is what you must put into your Host directory field. Meanwhile, try this - Send me the *.ste file you get when you EXPORT your site definition in DW's Site Manager, and I'll take a look.... forums at great-web-sights.com -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "emilyt.w" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:fqs3li$7im$1@forums.macromedia.com... >I see htdocs and cgibin as a sub category.
