New to DW, need help downloading
I hope someone can help me.
I am new to DW and am trying to download my existing web site , made with DW. I can connect to my ftp an all, but don't know what folder on my server to downlod. I tried index.html and it won't go. Any tricks or secrets to this? I have tried to find answers in the help files but nothing answers my question. Hope someone can help me. Thanks, |

What exactly does or doesn't happen when you select index.html and click GET? First- in the dw files panel, is the icon next to the folder for this site a folder icon or a network icon? In the dw Files Panel, when you switch to the remote files and click connect, do you see this site's files? Or do you see a list of subfolders with one of them name www or htdocs or public_html and the site is inside of that folder? -- Alan Adobe Community Expert, dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ |

Re: New to DW, need help downloading
It sounds like you need to download the folder with the index.html file in it.
If you are logging in and you see the index file and a bunch of folders you can just select them all and click on Get. If you are having problem with the transfer then you should go to Site (at the top) -> Manage Sites -> Highlight your site and click edit-> Click on the Advanced tab at the top. Next click on Remote Info and then make sure the box for Passive FTP is checked. Then try the FTP connection again and see if it works. |

Re: New to DW, need help downloading
I don't know where to start...I set yp my ftp connection which passed, but when
it asks as of from which remote host directory to download, it won't work. it tells me that the file is either protected or does not exist. I tried all sorts of file names in the host directory field. I guess this is where the problem lies. Also on the right side, it only shows local files, no remote files at all. It goes as far as downloading, then it says that it was not able to. is there someone I can call and they could walk me trough it? Maggie |
