Noob with file include extension issues
Hello, I recently got the adobe suite. I have been coding my web pages by hand
for about 10 years, but have so many I'm doing now and there are so many new cool things that you can do with them that I'm now planing on switching to doing my pages in dreamweaver. I have a lot of pages that I did in the past, and I'm going to be doing some redesigning. The first issue I've come up with is my file includes. The code I use is below. <!--#include file="name.lnk"--> I use this code and extension name because years ago a friend of mine said, hey look you can do this, and it worked and I just copied the code, put it in different places with different files, footer, header, menu, etc. I was reading several posts in this forum this morning about using file includes. I did make sure that the box was checked in the invisible elements window to show includes but my includes still don't show in dreamweaver. They show fine on my web site. I'm thinking dreamweaver may not like my extension name and maybe it should be changed anyway. So my question is what should I use as the extension name for file includes and what are the differences? Thanks |
