OT: Maximum reasonable page count for a downloadable PDF
Hi all -
My client is proposing a downloadable (at a price) pdf of her book. Seems to me 270 page document would be nasty to read. We are also selling print and audio CD's May I have your thoughts? Many thanks |

Re: OT: Maximum reasonable page count for a downloadable PDF
i don't see anything wrong with it. i know people who download and read
books on their computers. and it's not like they can't print it out if they want to, instead of reading it on the computer. i don't really think there's any reason not to do it. if people are willing to download it, why not let them? I agree with Courtney - I can't think of any reason why not to do it. It
sounds fine to me. I have a Sony Reader - and am in the process of converting as much of my print library to electronic versions as I possibly can. Saves space - which is important as we are building a much smaller house and will probably move in before Christmas Saves money - PDF versions, even of recent best sellers, tend to be less expensive than the paperback version (to say nothing of the hardcover version!) Saves trees - self evident Longest books I've bought so far are the Diana Gabaldon Outlander series, which run 1200-2000 pages in PDF form, even without enlarging the text! Re: Maximum reasonable page count for a downloadable PDF
i think she means people who have an Acrobat reader, but not an ebook
reader. i imagine that people with the Acrobat reader far outnumber those who have ebook readers. Re: Maximum reasonable page count for a downloadable PDF
though, if not too much trouble, it would probably be nice to do it in
both versions. but i haven't done anything like that, so i don't know how complicated it is! courtney (n h c) wrote: > i think she means people who have an Acrobat reader, but not an ebook > reader. i imagine that people with the Acrobat reader far outnumber > those who have ebook readers. > > Hunter Elliott wrote: >> "P@tty Ayers ~ACE" <signup1REMOVE@ayersvirtualREMOVE.com> wrote in message >> news:g6ld7u$r0h$1@forums.macromedia.com... >> >>> "Hunter Elliott" <nospam@gatewaycity.com> wrote in message >>> news:g6lcit$q98$1@forums.macromedia.com... >>> >>>> "Ken Binney" <kenbinney@ossiningdesignguild.com> wrote in message >>>> news:g6laa2$nsv$1@forums.macromedia.com... >>>> >>>>> Hi all - >>>>> >>>>> My client is proposing a downloadable (at a price) pdf of her book. >>>>> Seems to me 270 page document would be nasty to read. >>>>> >>>>> We are also selling print and audio CD's >>>>> May I have your thoughts? >>>>> >>>>> Many thanks >>>>> >>>> the Kindle supposedly can read PDFs, but why not use the .MOBI format so >>>> various ebook platforms could read it? >>>> >>> Then how could all of the people without ebook readers read it? >>> >> >> since they were already selling a Print version and an Audio CD, I figured >> that would be how the others would "read" it :) >> >> >> |
