Does it make sense to use <object>s?

I'm trying to determine if it makes sense to use <objects>s. W3C says that's
where things are going. HTML 5.0, and XHTML 5 dropped support for them.
Everything is an object. However, I see two problems:
1. They don't display at design time.
2. IE doesn't work with many of them or you need to make special entries for
a "special" browser. (Special Ed. Browser)

Anybody here using <object>s in place of <img> tags?

HTML 5 is just a working draft, it's not finished yet. But until now the
'object' element is still part of it.

No. Currently the only thing I would use 'object's for is Flash.
