FTP Problems using USB Dongle - solution?
Hi guys,
I just got a USB dongle (Vodafone UK) and am connecting online in this manner ok - problem is that Dreamweaver doesn't seem to work with this means of ftp transfer using a USB dongle. When I try to change a page on a website, that page goes haywire and becomes full of gibberish along the lines of: "?p???N.0`??0`?$??.k4T??<|`#"...... ETC. ETC........................." Any ideas why or how to resolve this issue? Thanks! |

If you take 5 minutes to download a free FTP program and try it out, you'll gain some valuable information. If it works fine, you'll know the "dongle" connection probably isn't the problem. -- Patty Ayers | www.WebDevBiz.com Free Articles on the Business of Web Development Web Design Contract, Estimate Request Form, Estimate Worksheet -- |

Re: FTP Problems using USB Dongle - solution?
I now found the solution. For reference:
It seems to be a Vodafone software problem. To overcome it, don't connect to the internet using the Vodafone shortcut on your desktop, instead go to the windows Start menu > Connect To > and select Vodafone Mobile Connect. If you connect in this manner, there seems to be no ftp problems when using Dreamweaver. |

Re: FTP Problems using USB Dongle - solution?
Glad you got it sorted, and thank you for letting us know. However, it's
strange, because it seems unlikely that any particular method of connecting to the Internet would affect whether or not DW can connect by FTP. Unless there's a firewall of some type involved, but surely that isn't turned on by using a desktop shortcut rather than the Start menu! Oh well, a mystery. -- Patty Ayers | www.WebDevBiz.com Free Articles on the Business of Web Development Web Design Contract, Estimate Request Form, Estimate Worksheet -- "BigChris919" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:g7bv10$7q2$1@forums.macromedia.com... >I now found the solution. Re: FTP Problems using USB Dongle - solution?
I will GUESS that the desktop icon includes something ODD in the properties
that launch the program Maybe extra options in the actual launch command, or something that is confusing the program in the startup (a bad startup directory?) Right clicking the desktop icon and looking at everything in the Properties option MIGHT indicate the cause of the problem |
