Re: Dreamweaver & PDF Doc Creation

Hi there, I just wanted to know if it is possible to createa a pdf document
using html, or dreamweaver.

The pdf document we want to create is to be emailed to a client, they would
type their name and address is the pdf document fields, tick a box and email it
back to us.

At the moment any pdf we send to the client has to be printed, signed and
faxed/posted back to us so we would like to use email for this rather than
traditional methods.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Here is the thing. It is not possible with HTML, but it is possible through a
server-side scripting language such as PHP or ASP. If you can post back what
server-side language you have available to you someone should be able to point
you in the right direction.

The only other thing I would recommend though if you are worried about having
a solid paper trail is you could set up a fax server at your physical site and
then faxes that are sent to you would be received as digital PDF documents as
opposed to paper faxes.

Re: Dreamweaver & PDF Doc Creation

Hi

Assuming you have the CS3 suite you have to tools to do it already.
You can do this using adobe live cycle. There are built in templates etc and
you just place them on your website.

The link below is an example

Re: Dreamweaver & PDF Doc Creation

Hi there and thanks for your replies.

I had a look/test of the adobe live cycle software that came with cs3 and it
seems just what we were looking for.

I just tested one of the forms and noticed that after the client fills out the
form it sends an xml file back to us. Do you know if it will send a pdf or
something similar back to us instead?

Hi

not sure about that, you could ask in the live cycle forum.

Depending on what you are using the form for I just used it to inhabit a
database- using a form to table function. From there I setup a report
populated by the database table which just recreated the online pdf form.

This allowed me to setup mailshots populate diaries etc.
