Photo Album 2.2
I'm using Dreamweaver 8 and Fireworks 8. If I try to create an album with over
100 photos, after the thumbnails, etc. are created in Fireworks, Fireworks closes and I am left with a mesage stating "Waiting for Fireworks". I've waited up to an hour, but the application does not finish creating the photo album. I get the thumbnail & images, but no html pages. |

Re: Photo Album 2.2
Hi
would help if we had the following details: Operating system, memory, size of hard drive and the average size of a photo. ie if you use photos taken with a 10mpixel camera each image could be a tad large. You are trying to manipulate 100- if you only have 512mb memory you could have problems. Re: Photo Album 2.2
Hi,
You need to optimize all of the photos either in Photoshop or Fireworks before you try to make the album. They should probably be between 20 and 30 kb each and not wider than 600mp. I''ve made about 15 different galleries for my website that I'm building in DWeaver, and optimized each photo first. The results are great. Rere |

Re: Photo Album 2.2
I didn't know I could do that with Fireworks. I just checked out the
instructions in Help and I think I can figure it out. I wish I would have known about this months ago, it will come in handy for many of my projects. Thanks, Cheryl |

Re: Photo Album 2.2
Hi again,
I tried batching my hundreds of photos in Photoshop and In Fireworks. Problem is, that each photo is different. I mean, it depends on how much you've edited in an image editing program, and sometimes even if you haven't the pixels weight is different depending on the photo. I also had to resize each of my photos because they were just too large to be optimized. I soooo wanted to batch all of them--and like I said, I did, but some were still coming up way to large in pixel weight. So the only thing I could do was optimize them individually. Remember there is the pixel width and height and there is the pixel weight. They are not the same thing. When you optimize your photos for the web, they will automatically be converted to jpg or what ever format you pick, and will also be converted to a 72 resolution. When you use an image editing program like Photoshop or FireWorks, and you go optimize (Save for Web in PShop), you look at the original and see the settings, and after you set your settings (between 20 and 30Kb and the quality setting, you will see the optimized image and how it will look on the web(usually at 100%). From this you can manipulate more or save it. It will give you the pixel dimensions and the pixel weight. When I used my 10 mp images, I resized them to 4x6s before I optimized them. If you want sharp images that will load in a browzer generally fast, then you'll need to optimize them for the web. Batch processing is wonderful, but I couldn't make it work the same on MY photos--though I am a professional photographer and do a great deal of editing to pretty large files. Rere |

Re: Photo Album 2.2
I used the batch process to optimize my photos. I have 144 photos between 12 -
30 kb. I still get the same errors as I got with the original copies. Reducing the file size did not help. I will keep trying and if anyone else has other ideas I would be happy to hear about them. |
