when I view my page in IE it looks fine all the links work everything good,
even when i send it to someone else. But the url still looks like this: \\Echo\newsletter\SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER\real newsletter.dwt... I need to change it to a www.(link goes here). How would I do this or where would I change it. I'm looking at the code but couldnt find out a way to change it from there.. Thanks! |

Re: I need to learn how to change web url but don'tknow how..
When you define a site you give Dreamweaver the FTP information for your web
host. You can then upload or "put" the files that makeup your website. You don't need to change anything in your source-code, as when you define the site Dreamweaver will pretty much do the rest. Have you purchased hosting and do you have the account login details? |

Once your done testing the files you will upload them to a server where the remote site is. To get the www.(address).com you need to register a domain name, get server space, configure the server and point the DNS to the server where the site is located. The www.whatever.com doesnt get coded anywhere. If your asking this then I strongly advise you to take some tutorials on making a site with DreamWeaver. |

Re: I need to learn how to change web url but don't know how..
> thanks but this didnt help.. several attempts to explain this to you were made last week when you asked it in a different thread. The ONLY way the browser's URL address bar is going to show http://www.example.com/page.html is if: 1.- You register the domain example.com 2.- You arrange for website hosting, and point the DNS for example.com to that hosting. 3.- You define a "site" in dreamweaver using this info about the remote hosting's FTP address 4.- You select the file in dreamweaver's Files Panel and UPLOAD it to the remote host. Currently, you are viewing the file directly from Your hard drive. It is not "on the internet". Get a domain name, and get hosting for it. You need to publish the file to a web host. -- Alan Adobe Community Expert, dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ |
