Removing Fasterfox 2.0.0
I am using the FF3.01, when the program was updated I got a message that
the add-on Fasterfox 2.0.0 is not compatible with the FF3. I know that, I am using Tweak Network 1.3 and not Fasterfox, where is Fasterfox 2.0.0 extension located, I would like to remove it from my computer. |

I removed via Firefox's Tools | Addons. When the Addons window comes up, clik on FasterFox to select it and then on Uninstall. You will be prompted to restart Firefox. At least, it worked for me. -- John Gray If you don't have a reason, at least have an excuse. |

Perhaps it will show then, and you can uninstall it in Safe Mode. -- John Gray If you don't have a reason, at least have an excuse. |

Removing Fasterfox does not undo the 'tweaks' it makes on your behalf. (I purged this less than useful add-on in version FF 1.5.x, and that was definitely the case then.) |

I copied my 2.x profile, uninstalled 2.x, deleted the profile, then installed 3.x and transferred some files (bookmarks, passwords, ...) to the new profile. But with other people I just set FasterFox 2.0.0 back to the default (Fx) settings (they created this feature along the way), then uninstalled it in 2.x and then installed 3.x. Should be ok, I think. -- s|b |

Quite true, and generally the case for many extensions. They either make changes to the configuration files, which they DO NOT replace when uninstalled, but those changes are maintained until you make a new profile. That is why a new profile is a good idea now and then. You can export your password and bookmark files, and import them into you new profile, thus clearing a lot of deadwood. -- Ron Hunter rphunter@charter.net |
