Download virus scanning
Is there an explanation for *exactly* what it is doing?
I've searched the mozilla.org pages, but all they explain is how to disable it. What exactly is it doing? How do I know if it is using the AVG program I have installed, but not running, on my computer? -- ***************************** Chuck Anderson • Boulder, CO http://www.CycleTourist.com Nothing he's got he really needs Twenty first century schizoid man. *********************************** |

I check each file before opening regardless |

I have AVG installed. I do not run it in background (only on demand), so what I'm trying to find out is, when download manager says scanning ..... what is it doing .... if anything? Why isn't this easy information to find? .... It appears to me (I have other issues as well) that with FF3, Mozilla has become so obsessed with security concerns that it has lost site of its original goals. It is no longer the simple, yet flexible, standards compliant browser it was intended to be. It will soon rival IE. -- ***************************** Chuck Anderson • Boulder, CO http://www.CycleTourist.com Nothing he's got he really needs Twenty first century schizoid man. *********************************** |

All Mozilla is doing is invoking AVG (in your case) so it scans the file. Ask them what that program is doing. The information, as to what Mozilla does, IS easily available. It invokes your installed anti-virus program. What that program does or how it works is up to the makers of that program, not Mozilla. |

When enabled, I lose "Web Developer" from my tools menu, as well as "restart Firefox" from my file menu. FF 3.0.1 on XP SP3. -- Arne |

When I scan a file with AVG there is an application window displaying progress and results. As far as I know there is no "command line/quiet component" of AVG. Is Firefox activating it in some way I'm not aware of or is it merely doing nothing (that's my guess)? Why isn't this part of FF config .... and why doesn't mozilla have ANYthing to say about it on their web site? -- ***************************** Chuck Anderson • Boulder, CO http://www.CycleTourist.com Nothing he's got he really needs Twenty first century schizoid man. *********************************** |

Again, that's an AVG 'feature' no a Mozilla one. |
