Flash plugin crashes FF

Hi.
I'm using FF 3.0.1 and Flash plugin 9 in XP.

Firefox uses lots of CPU when browsing sites that contains flash.
Also when i close firefox when the site is open, firefox crashes and
uses lots of cpu process.

Hey, i found that firefox works well with flash 6 plugin!

What is problem?

What problem?

Flash, any flash will use lots of memory, after all, its image after
image after image

Adobe recommends higher than flash 6 for computers
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/

If you are using Flash 6 then that MIGHT be the reason Firefox is
crashing. Upgrade to the version for your machine (earliest listed is
version 7.0 for windows legacy)

??Works well? but you said Firefox crashes... this is working well?

Well, you don't get something (Flash animations) for nothing. Of course
they will use CPU time! As for crashing when closing FF with Flash
sites open....haven't noticed that here, but then I use Flashblock, so I
rarely have a Flash animation playing when I exit.
You might try exiting with the File/exit instead of just closing the window.

Try uninstalling flash player and installing version 10 beta 2. I heard
something about a crash problem in version 9 that is fixed in 10. As for
CPU usage, flash player does use that up.

Do you have the Minimum Hardware requirements for Flash? I had the same
problem going to Flash 8. My CPU speed was under the recommended. Flash
would work sometimes but other times it would crash Firefox. I ended up
with a more powerful machine and never had the problem again.

Re: Flash plugin crashes FF

I have the same problem. Some Flash plays fine in IE, and SysInternals Process Explorer
shows it using 30% of CPU.

But same Flash in Firefox 3 uses 100% CPU to load page, and takes much, much longer.

OTOH, youTube uses slightly less CPU in Firefox than IE.

Both IE and FF have updated flash player. FF 3 install is new install from 3 weeks ago
with Flash from that time.

I have AMD 2GHz with 2G RAM.

Because IE is intregrated with the system, some of the processes it uses
are not assigned to it, but are subsumed within the system use. Whereas
with Firefox, all the processes are shown.

Use of 100% CPU is simply being efficient. ALL the available CPU is
being used. If it was down at 30% (like it shows with IE) the process
would take three times longer!

If you use only 50% of the available CPU, then the process could be
twice as fast if the program took advantage of the remaining 50% - so
100% usage is better, not worse.

My advice? Turn off the cpu meter, it isn't doing you any real good. You
can turn it back on if you run into problems, but right now it is simply
misleading you.
