mac osx 10.4.4 firefox 1.5.0.1 hangs

Hello,

I'm running mac osx 10.4.4 on my new ibook with 1gb of ram..and plenty
of disk space.....I just noticed yesterday evening that when I attempt
to get into my firefox preferences panel..firefox hangs.....I get the
spinning ball of death....:(

.....this will also happen if I attempt to download anything off of the
net with firefox....:(

....safari continues to work....thankfully.....

....I have checked by disk's security settings using the on-board mac
osx utilities.....and everything seems to be fine......:(

....I have uninstalled and reinstalled firefox several times....same
problem....I have even deleted my firefox plist file......I also
removed the cache directory from spotlight.....:(

.....is anyone experiencing anything close to this....???

.....does anyone know how to correct this....????

TIA...

Well...I found a directory /application support/firefox.......which
looked it contained profiles and plugin info plus favorites.....so I
blew this directory away....and everything is fine....

..... I did have a web developer plugin installed.......this may have
been causing my problem....but I'm up and running again....and NOT
installing the web developer plugin.....:)

You must have fouled up the running profile somehow, or you did have
problems with one of your extensions or themes. By removing the
profiles, I assume that's what you did, Firefox copied its default
profile from the application package, at first start.

Web Developer Toolbar is an extension, not a plugin. For what its
worth, I use it all the time, and have had no issues with it.
