always prompt to connect, used to work ok. Maybe someone here can help. ie connects ok when launched so windows settings are ok. Have tried remove/reinstall and deleted FF folder before reinstall also tried deleting and recreate connection, Windows is set to always dial my dsl connection. Small problem but annoying, would appreciate any responses Alan |

Search for the pref |network.autodial-helper.enabled|, and double-click on it. (Should set the value to false.) -- Chris Ilias mozilla.test.multimedia moderator Mozilla links <http://ilias.ca> (Please do not email me tech support questions) |

If you are talking about dial-up, then it depends upon your connectoid With DSL, the connection is always 'on' its just there, waiting to be used |

Quest DSL used to be a dialed connection, it would last for 2 hours before you get disconnected and had to relog/connect. The DSL softer provided from your provider should have an option for it. |

Or it could be an option in the DSL modem itself. When I had Verizon DSL, they gave me an external modem/router combo unit. The interface to the PC's were ethernet. In the internal setup pages in the modem, you had three options for the connection. Always On, On Demand, & Manual. With On Demand, when any outgoing traffic was detected, the modem would activate the connection. There was a seperate setting for the timout period for inactivity. After the timeout period expires without any traffic, the modem would shut down the connection. Verizon allowed Always On, so thats what I set it for, but the options were there, in the modem, to change it. Note that this had nothing to do with Windows' connection properties, this was all controlled in the modem itself. -- Alex |
