Two features missing
I am missing two things in TB.
1. If a videoclip is attached in the mail itself, we still need to download it and view it in our media player. it would help -- as the entire content is already there, if TB can play the video in the TB window itself. 2. Often people wrongly attach image files, and it ends up with names like "Part 1.1" etc. TB still recognized that it is a pic file because somehow it shows my image viewer (irfanview) icon along with the Part1.1 in the attachment pane, but it still does not show the image. Even after downloading the attachment, we need to change its extension to some jpg and then it opens. It would help if TB could equip itself for this eventuality and show the images and even correct the names of the attachment extension. -- or is there any add-on that does exactly the above? thanks. -- Rawat |

Have you tried using a nightly build, those do have the plugin suport code activated. Alternatively, try SeaMonkey. > 2. Alternatively, try SeaMonkey. An using TB 2.0.0.9 (20071031). I do have put my addon compatibility check off and nightly tester tools 1.3 addon installed. Seems u r talking about something else. Could you elaborate what is that and how to solve this requirement in me. As far as Seamonkey is concerned, FF/ TB are fulfilling my requirements and their development is going on, I don't have html composing, so what other features do I get in seamonkey over and above ff/tb to prompt me to learn a new software. > >> 2. This solution , someone has posted in this newsgroup , is actually for IMAP but i think it may find it useful at your end . "http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=3127505#3127505" |

The function of displaying Video within the context of a web page by a browser comes from the Plugin function support built into the browser. Thunderbird does not ship to the general public with this ability, it is turned off. The developmental trunk builds do have the ability for testing reasons. This has nothing to do with Add-on support which either extends the Mozilla code or themes the chrome. Media players are not extensions of the Mozilla code. Rather they are independent and if it's developer wants, provides connecting software that serves the media to the Plugin API. > As far as Seamonkey is concerned, FF/ TB are fulfilling my > requirements and their development is going on, I don't have html > composing, so what other features do I get in seamonkey over and above > ff/tb to prompt me to learn a new software. > >> >>> >>> thanks. >> >> The discussion of plugin support is almost as old as Tbird is. The result is expansion from two full-time developers to a staff of 7 full-time and one part-time. See: <http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/> for more details. -- Ron K.
