AV message shown as attachment

How can I stop the AV message (from AVG) being shown as an attachment to
all incoming mail. What this means is that every email I receive has an
attachment now, and I can't separate the real ones from the AV ones.

Thanks,

Catherine

which version of AVG ??

in vers. 8, RIGHT click the icon in the systray (next to the clock)
click "Open AVG user interface"
in the top-line menu, click Tools, then Advanced
Click the HEADER "E-mail Scanner" in the tree panel
in the right panel, UNcheck the box [ ] "Certify e-mail" under the
title line "E-mail scanning" to the left side
DO NOT uncheck the box [ ] Check incoming e-mail

let us know if that works for you.

Version 7 is a bit different.

Thanks Reg.

I think everyone is now on 8?
I have done what you said, and it looks right. Somewhere I had checked
something that said "display attachments inline" and now for the life of
me I can't find it... I want to now uncheck that, as it also seemed to
make a difference.

The emails that already have the attachment - I deleted the attachment
but it still shows the paperclip icon. Do you know how I can get rid of
that? It makes it very difficult to sort my emails with it still there.

see Ken's reply - although I don't think that will cause you any
problems - unless you uncheck the option (you will then have to
*deliberately* double-click-to-open each attachment). The View>>inline
simply shows each attachment at the end of the eMail body..... this is
quite useful for viewing pics, but probably not so, for documents etc.

I also had problems, trying to "remove" attachments (primarily pics)
from eMails and re-directing them to a separate folder... doesn't work
with the default TB feature - at least, not that I could see!
