How do I...?

When I set the order of the display of message headers, how do I make
them "stick"?

For example, in my Inbox, they are in random order. In another folder,
they are inverse date!!!

What's the secret????

Thanks.

Choose a box inside the folder and pull down the View menu. Select
"Sort By", and choose the parameters for sorting.

answer in other post - curious, though, how Inbox is in random order -
I've always seen it in /some/ order - or did you mean it picks out an
order (alpha,date,etc.) randomly?

Not really. I said that I know how to set the order. You told me how to
set the order.

I set the order to be date, oldest at top. When new mail comes in it is
inserted at random places in that list.
