DELETE GMAIL emails in thunderbird ????

This just does not work !!!!!

Are you in IMAP or POP3 mode? If in POP3, this is expected behaviour,
although you can tweak your Gmail settings a little.

If you use IMAP, try dragging a message to Gmail's own "Trash" folder.
