Mailto: on e-mail addresses in replies

I compose my outbound e-mail in "plain text". I quote the
messages to which I reply.

When I reply to an HTML message which contains an e-mail address
hyperlinked to itself, the reply includes the address twice, once
in the plain text and once again in the hyperlink, e.g.

richp1234@hotmail.com <mailto:richp1234@hotmail.com>

Is there a way to turn off the "mailto:" tag when it duplicates
an address already shown in the text? Or just to turn it off for
all replies?

First , TB is not duplicating the text . 'mailto:richp1234@hotmail.com'
text was already present in html message . If you view that mail in
'View > Message Body as > Plain Text' mode you will find it .
'richp1234@hotmail.com' is the display part of mailto link and
mailto:richp1234@hotmail.com is the actual link . It is the way to
create a mailto link .

As far I know the best way is delete it manually but there may be an
add-on to do same :(

Thanks, Nir. I realize that the duplication is in the HTML, not a
fault of Thunderbird. And I am disappointed that TB cannot inherently
recognize it and delete it when encountering such links.

But the probable logic of this type of design is , I think , to keep all
information of original message in reply .
Don't forget that if someone created a html link in this way

MyEmailID<mailto:myid@provider.com>

then 'MyEmailID' is also an important information so it should not be
removed automatically . User can remove it if they wish to .

But it also true that if Display part and actual mail id are just same
then there is no reason to keep display part in reply message . There
should be more intelligent approach while converting html content in
plain text reply , IMO .
