Xming + Putty to Debian etch - keyboard problem
Hi,
I have a newbie type of question. I have changed my Debian etch machine to a new one. I have freshly installed a new Debian etch and tried to synchronize old and new one as much as I can. I got the installed packages info (markings) from old machine by synaptics and installed same packages to the new one. Copied /home (seperate partition) to the new Harddrive and tried to match /etc. Everything seems to work ok for me except one thing. I use Xming+putty to have an ssh+Xforward session from my WinXP machine. I still can have a connection and Xforward session using the same settings. Gnome desktop and mouse works fine but the keyboard does not. Only the numeric keypad works OK other than the right most enter. Every other key does not work. By googling for some time I got that "microsoft services for unix" causes these kind of errors. But that is not installed in my winXP system. Anyone have idea about this problem? P.S. I don't know which packages' version numbers and which log files should company this message since I am a newbie. But I will try to supply neccesary information ASAP. Best Regards Gokhan Ozcan |
