Hello Chris, Just in from vacation. Re-read the thread, scoured the web in reference to "Linux Evolution Leafnode" and from all I've read, Evolution is not being used successfully with leafnode. I don't use either application and am unwilling to set them up for testing being content with slrn. Although it's been said many times, and not desiring to frustrate or offend you, I suggest using an application designed as a newsreader as its primary goal and forget Evolution for the time being ... maybe future releases will be better suited for news. It's a shame about Evolution because it's so close to being what I want. Seamonkey/Iceape is even closer, though it lacks LDAP write support, which is critical for me. Neither works well with Leafnode, so I'm using Knode at the moment which is great. If I find a decent LDAP-writing mail client (i.e. something which is a mail client with support for reading *and writing* to an LDAP address book) I will dump Evolution altogether. I used to need it for connecting to work email (via OWA), but that's now broken (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=463624) so LDAP is the only thing keeping me with it. CC |

I used to need it for connecting to work Why don't you keep using Evolution for email, if you must, and use a proper, dedicated newsreader application for newsgroups. It's already been suggested that you try Pan, and you haven't indicated whether you did or not. It's the best GUI newsreader there is, IMHO. Works fine with Leafnode, or without it. Some of the best filtering capabilities of any newsreader. Give it a look. -- "Ubuntu" -- an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me". Because you're having success with Knode, perhaps Kontact will be to your liking. Admittedly, I haven't used Kontact for a number of years, therefore, you'll want to first read about its capabilities with LDAP; yet one would reasonably expect Kontact to integrate with Knode seamlessly. Then again, if you've not ventured trying PAN, and I can recommend it, you'll find employing it to be very pleasant. - sk8r-365 -- Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. -- Matthew 12:45 |
