Go into Synaptic and remove the offending kernels. Hint: instead of plane "remove" or "Uninstall" use COMPLETE REMOVAL. This gets rid of all traces... |

I just used this method to remove all but the last two kernels and it worked fine. It was hard to find your post though with all the bullshit in this thread.
