Good newsgroup reader
I am using pan. Wondering if there are any better alternatives. Just
getting sick of the social engineering attepts I get each time I push send. Otherwise it would be a fine piece of software. You'd think they would provide a checkbox to turn that off... CL |

So am I. > What 'social engineering' does Pan 2 attempt? I don't know about the new incomplete version, but the stable full version that you and I are using pops up dialog boxes - here - if the quote-to-new-text ratio gets too high (i.e., the amount of quoted material far exceeds the amount of new material). I'm sure that would be the kind of thing he's talking about. Me? I just click send-anyway (however that's worded); no big deal. If you don't like what it does, change it. In this case, download the source, edit pan-0.132/pan/usenet-utils/message-check.cc, remove the checks you don't agree with. Run .configure, make, and make install. Regards, Dave Hodgins -- Change nomail.afraid.org to ody.ca to reply by email. (nomail.afraid.org has been set up specifically for use in usenet. Feel free to use it yourself.) |

Perhaps you should learn how to trim your posts, and do things properly, and you wouldn't see those messages. > Otherwise it would be a fine piece of software. Linux lacks a good combined mail and news reader, and those two would be ideal. Pretty much every thing I find lacking in Knode is already present in Kmail.
