Firefox Flash Crashes
I've got Firefox 3.0 with plugins like Flashplayer 9.0.124.0 and
mplayerplugin-3.50-3. All up to date, so I can play most web videos, when Firefox doesn't mysteriously shut down that is. I don't know if it's just trouble on my system, or if there's bugs in the packages. If anybody else is up to date with the video plugins, could you select one of the videos on this page and say what happens: http://www.wpxi.com/nowseethis/index.html -- Dave Farrance |

I've been speculatively changing this and that on my system. I had the libflashsupport (Optional Library Interfaces for Adobe Flash Player) package installed, so I de-installed it to see if that changed anything. That stopped Firefox from abruptly closing down, and I can now play the initial adverts in the above URL which I couldn't do before, but the actual news report freezes Firefox. Anyway, I'm one step forward, so I'll tackle the freeze problem tomorrow. -- Dave Farrance |

Have no problem playing videos on youtube.com. Same for http://news.bbc.co.uk if I am not running privoxy. |

Firefox died immediately after it finished downloading Since installing Mandriva 2008.1 Official, I have had this happening too. It happens a lot with YouTube. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Like every three or four small movies just prior to the movie starting. or if I hit the back button Fire Fox dies. I tried Konqueror with the same results. I have Mandriva 2008.1 on three computers in my house, they all have this problem. These are modern fast computers with broad band at 150k One has a very late Video card PX9600GT. still does it. I have not found a solution either. So you are not alone. Keep smiling. Don. |

The Intel 855GM with driver intel-2.2.1-5mdv with xorg.conf patched as per bug report https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=41582 (I know that having to hack the video driver sounds suspicious, and it's something that I'll get around to investigating in relation to this problem if nothing else works, but the video driver fault crashes the kernel which is a very different symptom to this.) -- Dave Farrance |
