Configuring time servers
When I try using the KDE control panel to configure time server it says it
cant contact server. It sees that my time is not getting updated. Anyone else have issues with the time servers? Is there a more direct way to get the server setup? Thanks, CL |

Well thats exactly what I just realized. MCC works, KDE control does not. I edited the ntp.conf file and restarted ntpd and all is well. I think the KDE is messing up the ntp.conf file with its own servers. then things get whacked out. Ill try to just use MCC if I can reember it. Anyway, all my local computers will be back on track :) Thanks. CL |

Well, are you sure that the server you are trying to add really is an ntp server? Do you have your network set up so that you can contact it? The configuration file is /etc/ntp.conf Put a line like (or a few lines like that-- pool.ntp.org resolves to new servers each time so multiple lines is OK. If you are not in N Am, use the pool servers for your country- And that should be it. Then restart ntp service ntpd restart as root. >Anyone else have issues with the time servers?
