To make changes permanent: 1. enter net.ipv4.ip_forward = 1 in /etc/sysctl.conf 2. make sure you have routing set up correctly 3. make sure you have netfilter (aka iptables) set up correctly with whatever filtering you need, plus MASQUERADE or SNAT, depending upon whether you have a dynamic or static shared address Your spiffy Mandrake option probably did 1 & 3 (at least MASQUERADE) for you. |
