Install with YAST worked

Even though I was the owner of the truecrypt rpm, I decided to try
installing it with YAST (as root) and that did it! I am still not certain
why the cli did not work, unless it was because it required installation as
root.

What would be the point of the root user if you were allowed to write
outside your home directory without root privileges?
