Firefox 2... security update on 10.3 loads 3.0
The update that just occured in the last few hours (before 3:50 PM in
Phoenix) proports it self to be a security update for firefox 2... and the result is a full install of 3.0. I'm trying to avoid 3.0 because it causes streaming video from to keep the link open a long time after the streaming has stopped, and this can be disasterous for servers, eventually shutting them down. If they have fixed that, then it can be considered a security update - but it should still be spelled out as to exactly what it is! And with 11.0, the update does not tell you anything about what is being updated! With both, to avoid it totally disable the taskbar update procedure and only use YasT. John |

The openSUSE update that came out for 2 installs 2.0.0.15, at least on my computer. > > I'm trying to avoid 3.0 because it causes streaming video from to keep the > link open a long time after the streaming has stopped, and this can be > disasterous for servers, eventually shutting them down. There are a surprising amount of add-ons that already work with 3. It'll only get better. > > If they have fixed that, then it can be considered a security update - > but it should still be spelled out as to exactly what it is! Again, the openSUSE update for 10.3 for Firefox 2 installs 2.0.0.15... really it does! I have not idea how you ended up with 3.0 through that. |

I explicitly checked what's in the update before running it (as always.) Must be the guy's own fault. Same happened here, but I had mozilla repositories in my repo list. After I deleted those, and did a zypper up again, I got 2.0.0.15 Theo -- theo at van-werkhoven.nl ICQ:277217131 SuSE Linux linuxcounter.org: 99872 Jabber:muadib at jabber.xs4all.nl AMD XP3000+ 1024MB "ik _heb_ niets tegen Microsoft, ik heb iets tegen de uitwassen *van* Microsoft" |
