does openSUSE run on Quad Core computers?
Does openSUSE work with Quad Core computers? I looked at the
following site, and don't see it: http://en.opensuse.org/Released_Vers...e_Architecture So does this mean that openSUSE will not work with Quad Core? If it does, will I need to download from the section that says "x86-64" ? |

Should see all 4 cores regardless of 32bit vs 64bit. |

Re: does openSUSE run on Quad Core computers?
Yes, but the quad-core may be to new for the information of the web page.
In the 32-bit version you have 4, 32-bit cpus and in the 64-bit mode you can think of it as dual x86_64 for the 64-bit software. On a quad-core with x86_64 SuSE. Check with "uname -a" and "top" to see if they reports 1, 2 or 4. cpu. If they report 1, then a few parameters must be altered to allow the system to function in a dual x86_64 mode. Check with "http://forums.opensuse.org" for more info on this issue. CPU Information Processor (CPU): AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ Speed: 1,000.00 MHz Cores: 2 Temperature: 40°C if it does install and work, that will answer your question. |

All it takes is a SMP enable kernel - most modern distros ship with one. > > If it does, will I need to download from the section that says "x86-64" > ? Only if you want to run the 64 bit version. |
