Mouse (capture) on laptop with 11.0
I've just installed 11.0 on a Fujitsu Lifebok A Series. This is a dual boot
system with Vista on the same drive. What is happening is this. On the KDE desktop (both 3.5 & 4.0) if I move the cursor over the K Menu the menu pops up. But when I try to move the cursor up into the menu area to select something the menu disappears. No matter which direction I move the cursor the menu closes. The only way I can get to the menu items is this. First I place the cursor over the K Menu icon and the menu appears. Now I've got to use the "^" arrow key to move the cursor up into the menu and the "<" and ">" arrow keys to navigate left/right. This can't be right. So any ideas how to fix this ?? P.S. My experience with laptops/portables is quite limited. So maybe this is common. Time to expand my knowledge base. Also, the computer has a built-in web cam. Anyone set up one on a Lifebook before ? What is the procedure ? Thanks. |

Well I'll suggest the obvious just in case: Are you doing this all in one motion? If not, your touchpad may have a setting where taps are interpreted as left button presses. So maybe you are accidentally tapping? |

It seems that the touch pad is very sensitive under SUSE and often thinks you've tapped in (thus closing the menu) when you've done no such thing. A plugged in mouse works for me. And VERY CAREFULL moving of my finger on the touchpad has also (occasionally) worked. Of course, your milage may be different... -- --- Paul J. Gans |

My Acer Aspire does exactly the same thing with 11.0 and I keep meaning to look in Yast to see if there is a way to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad. As you say, an external mouse works fine which is why I haven't spent the time trying to adjust it.... |

As you say, an external mouse works fine which is why I > haven't spent the time trying to adjust it.... I have a PS/2 trackball but this computer seems to have something else..probably a PS/3 if there is such a thing... I looked at Yast hardware information and it seems that this machine has BOTH the ALPS and the PS/2 drivers present. I think there is a conflict and I'll experiment with commenting out one or the other to see if that helps. I read something online from a Google search and this problem seems to occur with other distros as well when using the touch pad. I'll keep trying until it works... |
