Firefox 3 won't run external rss shell script. Firefox 2 does.
I use an external shell script to read rss feeds. It worked fine in
Firefox 2. In Firefox 3 when I go to subscribe to a feed I get the dialog about what reader to use (Live Bookmarks, etc.). I then enter the name of the script as I did in Firefox 2 only nothing happens. Firefox is evidently not running the script at all (if it were, I'd get a message box telling me the program opened). Possibly related, the Applications selection in the options menu shows no installed applications nor does it provide a list of mime types. I have at least one external application installed (installed under 2, but still there) and it doesn't show up on the list even though it works as it should. I'm running Firefox 3 on SUSE 10.3 and on SUSE 11 (two computers). No joy on either one. The SUSE 11 box is a fresh operating system installation, so there should be nothing interfering. Any way to get this back? |
