Kontact

Hi,

I have installed opensuse 11.0 on a partition using the /home from my "old"
opensuse 10.3 system. I have installed KDE 4.1 on OS11 and in order to have
my old mails in Kontact I copied the folder "~/.kde/share/apps/kmail" to
"~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail".
This seems to have worked nicely and brought all my mails over into my new
Kontact in OS11 but I'm missing all the rules and contacts. What other
directories do I need to copy?

Thanks!
Ron

Check in:

~/.kde/share/config

for files related to kmail. You can also start in your home directory
and do a:

grep -iR 'whattofind' *

and in the 'whattofind' put some text that would be in your contact
file and then with some text from your rules . . .

Not sure about the rules but the other stuff is in:

~/.kde4/share/config/kmailrc
configuration information for kmail including:
* location of folders
* folder info
* host information pop
* host information smtp (in kde4 this information is now in the following file:

~/kde4/share/config/mailtransports
smtp host (this file is new to kde4)

~/.kde4/share/config/emailidentities
your identities for outgoing messages

~/.kde4/share/config/emaildefaults
default identity for outgoing messages

~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf
addresses for kaddressbook (not email)

Of course under 10.3 these files will be in ~/.kde3/...

When I get a chance I was planning to expand this information and put it here:

Okay, well I got the contacts now over in my "new" Kontact. I had to log
back into my "old" Kontact and Export the contacts to a csv.
But sincwe the "new" Kontact's import for csv doesn't seem to handle the
scrolling of the columns correctly (bug filed) i had to edit the csv with
OOcalc first. Anyways I finally got my contacts back in my Email application
:)
But I'm still wondering where the rules could be saved. I tried to grep my
homedir for the rule names - no luck so far :(

Thanks for help with that!
