They can carry the output of script-kiddies. Just use pure unadulterated plain text. -- [mail]: Chuck F (cbfalconer at maineline dot net) [page]: <http://cbfalconer.home.att.net> Try the download section. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

Because some newsreaders can't do that. |

Telling Nemo not to post HTML is not going to stop script kiddies. Being illegible to a lot of newsreaders is enough reason though. -- It's bad luck to be superstitious. |

However, the absence of HTML on Usenet encourages readers to run without having HTML reception enabled, and thus makes those readers immune to that particular set of script kiddies. -- [mail]: Chuck F (cbfalconer at maineline dot net) [page]: <http://cbfalconer.home.att.net> Try the download section. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

If you're on Ubuntu 7.10 the saa7134-dvb kernel module will load automatically; if you're still with 7.04, you'll need to load it by hand. Post again if you need guidance on this. Best wishes. -- David |

My sister always sends me HTML and I don't want to try to educate her from 600 miles away. At 72, she is a retired, top rank nurse, and intelligent enough to learn some tidbits I send her but she does use windows and IE and Outlook that came with the pre-install. I'm the 'baby' brother at only 59, but we are both information and learning junkies to keep the brain functional. Senility is just brain rot from lack of use and we both know it and won't go down that path. Bill Baka |

You can always arrange to send pure text everywhere, and enable receiving HTML only when you are reading email, or even email from your sister. Tbird can also control the output line length nicely. I set mine for 67. It doesn't apply to quotes. I have given up trying to persuade my daughters (in their 30s) to switch to Linux. I'll concede they have some reasons (applications). BTW, your sister is still a kid. :-) I also have a 50 ish retired air-force chief nurse step-daughter. -- [mail]: Chuck F (cbfalconer at maineline dot net) [page]: <http://cbfalconer.home.att.net> Try the download section. -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |
