System clock loses time after installing Norton
System Clock Loses Time After Installing Norton AntiVirus 2000
Situation: You have installed Norton AntiVirus 2000 (NAV) and now the time on the system clock keeps changing. It appears to happen at random, and can be either slow or fast. Solution: This is a known problem and it is being investigated by Symantec. At this time, the cause is not known, and it appears to affect an extremely small percentage of computers on which NAV is installed. In some cases, this problem has been fixed by updating a Symantec file. Please follow these steps to do this: 1. Go to: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_...vnt/sevinst.exe 2. When the Download dialog box appears, choose to download the file Sevinst.exe to a folder on your hard drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. The Run dialog box appears. 4. Click Browse, and browse to and select the Sevinst.exe file that you downloaded. 5. Click Open. The path and command for Sevinst.exe will appear in the Open box, for example, C:\Download folder\Sevinst.exe 6. Click into the Open box to select it, and then press the End key. This will place the cursor to the right of the file name, for example, C:\Download folder\Sevinst.exe| 7. Press the spacebar, then type NAV95. 8. When done, the text in the Open box should appear similar to: C:\Download folder\Sevinst.exe NAV95 9. Click OK. This should resolve the problem. If it does not, please post a question to "Ask Symantec" at: http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/nav/ask_s...ec_nav2000.html |
