Trying to network an IBM NETVISTA
Hi,
~ the actual box I have is an IBM NETVISTA A30P MT P4/1800 (Part #: 831063U) ~ I don't know or even how to check if it is a BIOS problem related to the NICs or not and I have tried different NICs ~ sh-3.1# dmesg | grep eth eth1394: eth0: IEEE-1394 IPv4 over 1394 Ethernet (fw-host0) e100: eth2: e100_probe: addr 0xc1000000, irq 23, MAC addr 00:09:6B:35:13:E5 eth1: setting half-duplex. eth1: setting half-duplex. ~ root@Knoppix:~# ifconfig -a eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:6B:35:13:E5 BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:10:4B:26:81:FB BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Interrupt:21 Base address:0x2040 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:14 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:14 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:700 (700.0 b) TX bytes:700 (700.0 b) root@Knoppix:~# ethtool eth0 Settings for eth0: Supported ports: [ TP MII ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Speed: 10Mb/s Duplex: Half Port: MII PHYAD: 1 Transceiver: internal Auto-negotiation: on Supports Wake-on: g Wake-on: d Current message level: 0x00000007 (7) Link detected: no root@Knoppix:~# ethtool eth1 Settings for eth1: Supported ports: [ TP MII ] Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full Supports auto-negotiation: Yes Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full 100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes Speed: 10Mb/s Duplex: Half Port: MII PHYAD: 24 Transceiver: internal Auto-negotiation: on Current message level: 0x00000001 (1) Link detected: no root@Knoppix:~# How can I check/text/fix my NICs on this box? What if anything is connected to the two NICs? |
