Remove startup items in Windows 2000
To remove startup items in Windows 2000:
(you may want to backup the registry before you do this)
-You must be signed on as Administrator for the first step.
-Go into the control panel and administrative tools, then click on services.
-look for programs in that list, but DO NOT remove anything else, because some of them are needed for Windows.
-After that go into the registry (regedit).
-browse to the following registry key:
-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\curre nt version\run
-click on the "run" key, then anything in the right pane are programs in startup for that user.
-Then, for programs that are in startup for EVERY user, browse to the following registry key:
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\curr ent version\run
-click on the "run" key, then anything in the right pane are programs in startup for every user.
-Delete anything out of the startup to try to free up system resources.
