Occasionally there are programs which create diagrams and/or documents but offer
only a print-to-printer or a save-as *.ext function.

However sometimes I want to have these diagrams/documents available as *.PNG or
*.jpg images. I could imagine that there are special printers available which
offer to print them into such an *.png format.

Does someknow know such a printer-to-image-file driver ?

No but there are PDF printers, OR use Alt-Printscreen and paste in image
editor of choice.

If you Preview the print, you can capture the window to the clipboard
(Alt-PrintScreen), and paste it into Paint.

You want a graphics conversion utility, not a printer utility.

can modify the pic or
save it into any graphics
files format, including
jpg.

nor sure if the freeware
versions of the pdf print
driver have any limitations,
but i know that the adobe
pdf driver works well with
photoshop.

Such a coversion will severely hamper graphic quality.

I like Paperless Printer v3.0

It will print to;

1) PDF
2) RTF
3) XLS
4) HTML
5) BMP
6) JPG

Since i like to run a paperless office, Paperless Printer is my default
printer. When I actually do need to print on paper, I just use the
print dialog that allows me to choose one of my physical printers.

Paperless Printer is a commercial application that is free to use for
non-commercial purposes. It does have an EXTREMELY annoying nag screen
that comes up every time you print as a non-commercial user.
