Computer restarts after being turned off

Problem....
a customers pc reboots all on it's own after shutting down.
After turning the pc of in the usual way from windows, the pc shuts down and
then restarts right away.
Even if the power button is held in then it keeps on restarting over and
over again.
Nothing set in bios to auto restart it if power goes down.
No settings to wake on Lan.
It's as though the power button is switching on it's own.
Any ideas?

Re: Computer restarts after being turned off

That machine is having some critical error during shutdown, and the system
is set to 'restart on error' The Event Viewer will record those events.

Re: Computer restarts after being turned off

If you can get into the machine...
right click my computer -> properties
Click on the advanced tab
click startup and recovery, uncheck automatically restart, this will make
the system blue screen if it's a windows issue..
Let us know...

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,
Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before
Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

An alternative is to keep pressing the F8 key during Start-Up and select
option - Disable automatic restart on system failure.

If you are using a wireless keyboard and the F8 key does not work
substitute a wired keyboard and mouse for this exercise only.

Hope this helps.
