drives disappeared from My Computer
Hi folks,
I'm encountering a strange problem. I have a Windows XP Media Center Edition computer. It has many card slots on the front of it for various types of media. Each has (or used to have) a drive number associated with it. When viewing My Computer, they would all show up. I believe I had drives going up to letter K. Now, however, only a few drives show in "My Computer." The one I use for my camera's card (it was "G", I think) doesn't show any longer, whether or not the card is inserted in the slot. So I can't download images from my camera. I need to take photos for my business, so this is a real concern. Most of the other drives are missing, too (including the one I need for a second camera which I use less often). The drives that remain are: HP Pavilion (C:); HP Recovery (D:); FreeAgent Drive (K:); DVD-RAM Drive (E:), and Removable Disk (J:). I'm not sure which drive J is (it's some kind of card reader) as that isn't one I usually use. I believe Drive G was the one for my camera's card. Is there some way to get the drives to show & be functional again? The computer is just over a year old and running great other than this! I have tried rebooting but to no avail. Thanks so much for any enlightenment you can offer! all best, Denise |
